Whatever the plaque used to say, it has been scratched out some time ago. Now there is a series of gibberish etched onto the plate. It says:

Xvh wkh zklwh vsdfh wr wkh uljkw!
Shrugging, you look around the square.
You can go to the library.
You can go to the history museum.
Or you can go back down the street.
