Open the Shed

You open the shed and begin organizing the pool toys.  It takes the rest of the day, but whenever Poolcheck comes over to see how you're doing he leaves impressed. 

Finally the day at the pool ends.

"I had my doubts about you, but I think you may be the best assistant lifeguard I've ever had," Poolcheck says.  "Can I count on you tomorrow?"

"Sure!" you say.

Poolcheck hands you a soda.  "Here, you've earned this.  A toast!"

"A toast!" you say as you drink it down.  It tastes funny.  You see that the can is unlabeled. "What is this?" you ask.

"It's my own blend," Poolcheck says evilly.

You fall to the deck gasping.  Your legs fuse together and you see that they've become a tail!  Poolcheck kicks you into the water.

"My last mer-folk escaped me.  He was really helpful to clean the deep end and keep an eye on things when I wasn't around.  Now I've got another one!  See you tomorrow!"

Poolcheck leaves you alone, trapped in the pool...forever!
