Follow Into Cave

Dipper leads you deeper into the cave.  "Just back here," Dipper says.  "Trust me."

You notice that he has a bandage on his arm.  "What happened to you?" you say.  "Did you get hurt at the pool?"

"I never go near there," he says.  "There's way too much water."

"But I saw you there!" you say.  "I saw-OOF!"

Something heavy knocks you down.  There's a scuffle, but it's two against one, and in moments you find yourself bound up on the floor of the cave.  There are TWO Dippers looking down at you!

"Good job, number four!" one of them says.

"I couldn't have done it without your distraction, number three!" says the other.

"What's happening?" you ask.  "What's going on?"

"We're copies," number three says.  "And since we're copies, if we get wet, we will die.  Fortunately for us, we found instructions in a journal that explained how we could become permanent so that water won't melt us."

"Unfortunately for you," number four says, "we need somebody to be willing to give up their essence in order for us to become more permanent.  And it looks like that somebody's gonna be...you!"

They advance on you with evil smiles.
